The Research Group MaXRay: Magnetism and Coherent X-Ray Imaging is looking for

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) for GHz Resonant Excitation of High-Performance Spintronic Materials

Your Tasks

  • Fabrication of spinwave injector devices (nanolithography and materials growth)
  • FMR, spin-torque FMR, and spinwave transport experiments (non-local spin valves)
  • Preparation of membrane samples for transmission x-ray and electron measurements
  • Direct measurement of magnons through time-resolved scattering and imaging experiments at large-scale facilities
  • Interpretation, presentation, and publication of the results
  • Supervision and support of students
  • Commissioning of our FMR setup
  • Lead of and participation in beamtime experiments

Your Profile

  • PhD degree in physics, materials science, or related fields
  • Background: Experimental spintronics research
  • Scientific expertise in magnonics, spin-torque nanooscillators, vortex gyration or related topics
  • Technical expertise in nano-patterning (e-beam, optical, FIB, Ar milling, …), GHz electronics, FMR measurements, time-resolved imaging, or related techniques
  • High quality publication track record including excellent first-author publications
  • Highly motivated to work in an international team on a competitive topic, with proven independence and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English (C1 or better, no certificate required)
  • Ability to present clearly
