Offer Description

Are you interested in the prevention and treatment of poisonings in companion animals and humans, and do you want to work on solutions? Join our team at the Section of Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine of Companion Animals! Currently, we study the effect of toxins in liver organoids in three dimensional printed liver constructs which could aid in unraveling the toxicological mechanisms of toxins.

Your job
Your daily work will be managerial and practical involving clinical toxicology topics.

  • You will coordinate and guide the research projects of the section of Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine.
  • You will be involved in the conception of new research projects and development of research proposals.
  • You will initiate and write research grants.
  • You will manage projects in collaboration with third-party funding administrations.
  • You will write and supervise international scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • You will present at scientific congresses both nationally and internationally.
  • You will be involved in planning and conducting molecular biology experiments that can include cell and tissue culture, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, tissue processing, and histology.

Requirements

Specific Requirements
  • You have recently completed or you are in the last steps before completing your PhD in a field with strong affinity with clinical toxicology.
  • You can work well independently, have new ideas, you are critical but able to connect with other disciplines and larger projects.
  • You have excellent communication skills, in English and preferably also in Dutch.
  • You are energetic, enthusiastic and motivated for the job and you are a team player, in general positive and also willing to take active part in creating a good safe and inclusive atmosphere in the research group.
  • Practical experience with cell culturing, tissue engineering, and bioreactor technology is considered a useful additional skill.

Benefits
  • A job for two years with the possibility of prolongation;
  • a working week of 16 hours and a gross monthly salary between €3,378 and €5,331 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 10 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU));
  • 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
