Based on the decision of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Physics University of Rijeka,
the Faculty of Physics University of Rijeka, Radmile Matejčić 2, is advertising the following position:

1. One position for an Assistant professor (m/f), in an employment relationship for an indefinite period with full-time employment, for the scientific field of Natural Sciences, field of Geophysics at the Faculty of Physics University of Rijeka.

All applicants for the position must meet the general conditions prescribed by the Labor Act (Official Gazette 93/14, 127/17, 98/19, 151/22 and 64/23) and the specific conditions set out in Article 39, paragraphs 1 and 3 of the Higher Education and Scientific Activity Act (Official Gazette 119/2022), Article 55, Paragraph 1 of the Statute of the University of Rijeka, Article 49. of the Rules of Procedure of the Faculty of Physics University of Rijeka, Rulebook on the conditions for selection into scientific professions (Official Gazette 28/17, 72/19, 21/21 and 111/22), Decision on the necessary conditions for the evaluation of teaching and scientific-professional activity in the selection process into scientific and teaching professions (NN 122/17 and 120/21) and the Rules on the form and manner of conducting the introductory lecture for election to teaching professions (Official Gazette 119/05).

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

• curriculum vitae,
• a copy of proof of Croatian citizenship or citizenship of another country,
• a copy of proof of the required qualifications, i.e. doctoral degree,
• a list of publications, and relevant publications for selection.

The selected candidate will be required to submit a decision on the recognition of educational qualifications, if the qualification was acquired abroad, prior to employment. 

Conditions for preferential treatment in the selection process:

• Teaching excellence and several years of experience in teaching physics and geophysics at the university level, employing innovative and diverse methodological approaches.​
• Expert knowledge and experience in the field of air quality, utilizing statistical methods in meteorological research.
• Significant research achievements, including the publication of scientific papers in high-impact journals.​
• Well-developed critical thinking skills, enabling effective analysis and resolution of complex problems in scientific practice.
