Offer Description
The University of Marburg, founded in 1527, offers a variety of excellent programs of study for around 22,000 students and confronts the important topics of our time through excellent research across a broad spectrum of sciences.
The Position is offered for a period of 2 years. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state of Hessen, Germany (100 % TV-H E13).

Skills/Qualifications
- MSc-degree or equivalent and PhD in Chemistry with strong focus on Organic Chemistry or Synthetic Chemical Biology (Bioorganic Chemistry)
- strong theoretical and practical background in organic chemistry (dye chemistry)
- interest in understanding biological processes at the atomic level
- some experience with biological techniques
- self-driven and passionate team player
- excellent English knowledge (written and oral)
Specific Requirements
- development of research with a high-degree of independence
- design and conduct multistep organic synthesis of photosensitive molecules (ideally photoswitches and multicomponent reactions)
- photochemical characterisation (quantum yields, life time etc)
- conjugation via solid-phase synthesis
- biological characterisation: cell-based experiments, microscopy, binding experiments
- scientific communication (oral and written) in an international environment
- supervision of students (teaching service at Bachelor’s and Master’s level)
