Professor Joaquin Olivares / Dept. of Electronic and Computer Engineering welcomes expressions of interest from Postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record of research and publication to apply jointly from UCO to the European Commission Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme in 2025 (MSCA-PF-2025), which call will be open on 8th May 2025.

We are working to be the university of reference in Spain for the use of AI in agronomy. We obtained the National Chair of Artificial Intelligence in Agronomy. We also lead the Spanish node of the European project AgrifoodTEF and participate in the European Digital Innovation Hub “Andalucía Agrotech DIH.” So, we have all you need to develop a successful project: a large farmland for experiments, a dataspace, an international research network, a supercomputer, labs, embedded GPUs, FPGAs, etc. 

UCO is developing projects related to neural networks, computer vision, predictive maintenance, digital twins, virtual assistants, autonomous machinery, and more.

Expressions of interest must be forwarded before 15th May 2025 to olivares@uco.es with the subject “EoI_MSCA-PF-2025.” The selected candidate will be invited to work on the application with Prof. Olivares and the International Projects Office from UCO. Please ensure your agenda allows full dedication to proposal preparation during the summer months since the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship deadline is 10 September 2025.

IMPORTANT: Applicants should check their CV against the eligibility and mobility conditions of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships:

For eligibility:

  • Have a Doctoral degree
  • Have a maximum of 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience

For mobility:

  • The researcher has not resided or carried out his/her main activity (e.g., work, studies) in the country of the Host Institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline date.

Three main offices related to international promotion, funding, transfer of knowledge and protection of results operate at UCO: the International Relations Office (ORI), the Results Transfer Office (OTC) and the International Projects Office (OPI). Thanks to their support, UCO has a large experience in coordinating, managing and implementing international projects since 2nd Framework Programme (2FP_1987–1991). During the last Framework Programme (H2020_2014-2020), UCO obtained 45 projects funded, plus 51 projects funded by other European programmes, meaning almost 20 M€ in income. Currently, UCO has been granted with 20 projects funded through Horizon Europe and 42 projects funded by other European programs (since 2021).

UCO is equipped with cutting-edge centralized research facilities (SCAI), located at the Rabanales Campus, including a Scanning Confocal Electron Microscope (SCEM), a Genomics and Proteomics Unit, a NIR/MIR Spectroscopy Unit, a Mass Spectrometry Unit, and a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Unit, among others. UCO also has greenhouses, its own Meteorology Station and a Central Animal Experimentation Unit, which complies with national and European legislation concerning research with genetically modified animals.

Our university offers a wide range of services in the ICT area and audiovisual technologies as well as in the field of education and training, providing video conference and streaming support; multimedia and interactive courses and apps, e-learning platforms; audiovisual materials; web design assistance, etc.

UCO has a Scientific Culture Unit (UCCi), as strategic service of our university, responsible for the communication and dissemination of knowledge generated at the University of Córdoba. This unit take part in the design of specific communication plans and spreading media the research projects at local, national and international level.
