Offer Description
Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences
Department of Urban and Rural Development
Agricultural history is a historical discipline that covers developments from the earliest times to the present. The subject deals with agricultural production and technological development, social and economic conditions, people in the agrarian society and their relationship to nature, the landscape and society at large. The interdisciplinary methodology of agricultural history is used to study complex conditions and long-term processes with a historical perspective.
Agricultural History is part of the Department of Urban and Rural Development, where undergraduate education, postgraduate education, research and collaboration are conducted in five divisions: Agricultural History, Landscape Architecture, Rural Development, Environmental Communication and the Division of Political Science and Natural Resource Governance. The department is the largest within SLU for social sciences, humanities and design. For agricultural history, the department's research environment enables collaboration with other subjects in both research and teaching. SLU also offers an attractive research environment with unique breadth around common problem areas and thus provides opportunities for multi- and interdisciplinary collaborations not only with research groups in the humanities and social sciences, including economics, but also with groups in natural and engineering sciences.
