Offer Description

Keywords: Accelerator proton beams, proton radiotherapy, dosimetry of  ionizing radiation, tests of radiation hardness of electronics

A person employed as an adjunct (post-doc) for a fixed period up to 33 Months at the Department of Radiation Research and Proton Radiotherapy – NZ62 at IFJ PAN will be obliged to participate in work on research topics and projects implemented and planned for the nearest period at the NZ62 Department.

The Department of Radiation Research and Proton Radiotherapy (NZ62) provides research related to the use of proton beams, mainly from the AIC-144 cyclotron, in experiments in dosimetry, radiation protection, medical physics, radiobiology and nuclear physics. We have two proton beam irradiation facilities with advanced beamforming and dosimetry methods.

The two main fields of scientific activity carried out by members of the Department are:

- Research related to the use of proton beams in the development of dosimetry for new methods in proton radiotherapy including FLASH and GRID proton radiotherapy;

- Research related to the use of the proton beam in radiation hardness testing of electronics designed for space sector applications and large particle physics research facilities.

The NZ62 Department carries out work on the above topics in collaboration with national and international research centres. The activity of making radiation beams available to external customers within the framework of international projects and to commercial customers is also being developed.
