A person employed as an adjunct-tenure (assistant professor) for an indefinite period at the Department of Ultrarelativistic Nuclear Physics and Hadron Interactions - NZ23 at IFJ PAN will be obliged to participate in work on research topics and projects implemented and planned for the nearest period at the NZ23 Department.
The basic tasks of the employed person will include: analysis of data from collisions of relativistic nuclei, work on the phenomenological description of the obtained results, work on the software development, supervision of one of the key ALICE detection systems.
The employed person will also be obliged to disseminate the results of research in the form of publications in leading scientific journals indexed in the JCR and speeches during seminars and conferences, including international ones. This person will also be obliged to apply for external funding for research.

- a doctoral degree in the physical sciences or related disciplines with a scientific record substantially equivalent to that required of candidates for a postdoctoral degree, or a postdoctoral degree in the physical sciences or related disciplines,
- documented publication record in refereed journals,
- knowledge of the research topics of high-energy collisions of atomic nuclei,
- working skills in an international team,
- good knowledge of programming and experience in large computational codes,
- very good knowledge of spoken and written English,
- high motivation for further development.

Candidates applying for employment in IFJ PAN must contact the head of the NZ23 Department of Ultrarelativistic Nuclear Physics and Hadron Interactions, Prof. Dr. Hab Marek Kowalski (Marek.Kowalski@ifj.edu.pl) at an early stage, who may ask the candidate to deliver a seminar before submitting the application. Then, the Head of the Department submits the employment recommendation to the Competition Committee.

All applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee selects the candidates to be invited to interviews based on submitted documents.
- Interviews with candidates shall take place from June 9th, to June 11th, 2025. Candidates qualified for interviews shall be notified by e-mail about the exact date of the Interview by May 26th, 2025. During the interview the candidate shall be required to give a presentation, stored on a pen drive, lasting 10 minutes at maximum which shall presenting candidate’s most important achievement,
- The competition shall be concluded by June 27th, 2025.
- Each candidate shall be notified by e-mail about the results of the competition.
- The final decision on employing and salary shall be taken by IFJ PAN Director.
A person employed at the position of Assistant Professor with a PhD degree will receive a monthly basic salary of PLN 7,000 gross, and with a postdoctoral degree of PLN 7,800 gross. The total amount of remuneration is influenced by additional components, such as: length of service and allowance for working under conditions of exposure to ionizing radiation (if applicable).
