Offer Description

Development of work within the scope of the BIOCOMP 3.0 project, in the context of assessing the environmental impacts of the production of organic compounds through industrial composting of Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes). In particular, candidates should be able to carry out a Life Cycle Assessment following the methodologies outlined in the Applicable Standards (ISO 14040 and 14044).

The scholarship is for 6 months with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 12 months, including the initial period, with a scheduled start date of March 22, 2024.
The application period is from January 13th to the 30th, 2024.

Work Plan/The following activities, among others, are planned under this grant:
1. Collecting and organizing primary and secondary data/information, through the use of questionnaires,
as well as consulting existing databases, specific literature and experts in the field;
2. Construction of the LCA model, using Gabi software, and determination of various environmental indicators;
3. Evaluation of various alternative scenarios, including those arising from the implementation of the technologies
technologies implemented in the project;
4. Preparation of technical reports and other technical-scientific documents;
5. Collaboration with other project activities;
6. Participation in actions to communicate and disseminate the tools and results.

Grant Goals:

Support for the research work to be carried out as part of the activities of the BIOCOMP 3.0 project, with Portugal, with particular emphasis on assessing the environmental impacts of the production of organic by industrial composting of Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes). Candidates should be able to develop a Life Cycle Assessment, in accordance with the methodologies set out in the applicable standards (ISO 14040 and 14044).

 

The amount of the grant corresponds to 1.199,64 €, according to the table of values of the grantsawarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly salary will be payed monthly by bank transfer.

Selection process

The selection method to be used will be based on the curriculum evaluation, with the following components: a) Motivation and availability for performing the functions outlined in the work plan - 30%; b) Academic and scientific background, with emphasis on components related to the work plan - 40%; c) Relevant research experience for the work plan - 30%; The top-ranked candidates, based on the curriculum evaluation, may be invited for an interview. The Jury reserves the option not to select candidates if they do not fit the task profile presented.

The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification tothe candidates.
If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, thecandidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results,to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of theAdministrative Procedure

Additional comments

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academicdegree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by adeclaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory duringthe grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution inaccordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
