A position is open for a Research Fellowship for a Master under the project Pacto da Bioeconomia Azul– PBA, Ref. C644915664-00000026 –financed under Invitation Notice n.o 02/C05-i01/2022 regarding the development of projects within the scope of the Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation,
framed and financed under component n.o 5 - Capitalization and Business Innovation of the Recovery and Resilience in Portugal.

1. Scientific field: Engineering
2. Admission requirements: Candidates must have training in a scientific area, with a master's degree in areas of Biotechnology, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering or related areas. Candidates must be enrolled in a doctorate or in a non-academic degree course integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution. The documents proving this situation must be presented, at the latest, until the scholarship contracting phase, before which they can be replaced by a declaration of honour.
3. Workplan: The aim of this work is to operate bioreactors on a pilot scale for the production of
biopolymers by microbial cultures, as well as the extraction and characterization of the PHA.

4. Workplace: The work will be carried out in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the scientific guidance of Professor Maria Ascensão Reis.
5. Duration of the fellowship(s): The fellowship will last for 6 months, starting in May 2024, and may be renewed depending on the duration of the project.
6. Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1309,64, according to the stock chart of the exchanges awarded directly by FCT, I.P. https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.p… , payment
being made monthly by bank transfer.
7. Selection methods: Selection methods are based on curriculum assessment (50%) and research experience in the project area (50%), in accordance with the requirements mentioned in paragraph.
