Description

Project description

Sensorised road pavements.

The R&D Road Engineering Group has been developing the basic technology for road pavement sensing, obtaining data and converting it into valuable information for traffic management over the last two years. The level of maturity of the results obtained is currently at TRL 4, and the Research Group has decided to continue working to move to TRL 7. In this scenario, a specialist in telecommunications, electronics, data and related fields is needed to join the group. This first step can be taken through the MSCA postdoctoral fellowship. After that, as the department moves towards digitalisation, the candidate could join the University in a more stable contractual relationship.

Brief description of the Centre/Research Group

The Road Engineering R&D Group carries out its research activities within the Department of Transport, Territory and Urban Planning Engineering. Over the last few years it has developed a strong research activity in virtually all areas of road engineering, producing dozens of publications and several PhD theses. Recently, the group has embarked on new projects related to road sensorisation, data collection and processing. All members of the group have a PhD in Civil Engineering. However, rapid advances in electronics, sensorisation, data acquisition and processing make it highly desirable for a PhD in telecommunications, electronics and related technical fields to join the group. https://www.upm.es/observatorio/vi/index.jsp?pageac=estructuras/grupo.jsp&idGrupo=365&h=1
