IDIBELL is looking for Scientific Project Manager for the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO)

 

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine. Research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens.

IDIBELL is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, south of Barcelona. It is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona (HUBc) and Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA). In 2009, it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Health Institute Carlos III. In 2015, the European Commission recognized IDIBELL with the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ award, which identifies IDIBELL as a provider and supporter of a stimulating research work environment.

 

About the research group

The Oncology Data Analytics Program (ODAP) was formed in 2019 answering the needs of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and IDIBELL for a unique program covering the genomic cancer research, bioinformatics knowledge and resources to support the institute in oncological data handling, analysis and research. By applying state-of-the-art bioinformatic tools and analysis, the program reaches their main obejectives in cancer prevention and early detection of cancer. The program is divided in three subunits: Bioinformatics for Precision Oncology (B4PO), Oncology Outcomes and Biomarkers and Susceptibility Unit (UBS). About the role

We are seeking for a highly motivated professional with a profile of project manager and the education (preferably PhD) in biomedicine or life sciences. The successful applicant will support the Director of ICO’s ODAP Program in project management, more specifically, in developing the following tasks:

– Grants opportunities search: international and national calls to fund projects and fellowships

– Proposals preparation: participation in writing proposals, budgets, submission and follow-up.

– European and national projects management: financial follow-up, coordination, technical and financial reports development, contact with projects partners and funding bodies

– Liaising with ICO’s and IDIBELL’s grants offices, as well as funding institutions, for procuring grant information and opportunity for the team.

– Support to Program’s collaboration activities, strategic and outreach initiatives.

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Experience in research management projects: funding search, proposals management, projects follow-up
  • Experience in research: proposals design, reports and papers writing

Education and training

  • Master or PhD in biomedical sciences or related disciplines
  • Advanced level of oral and written English

Technical skills

  • High organizational skills
  • Can do attitude, proactive and ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • High command of MS office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc
  • High command of Project Management softwares: MS Project, Trello, etc

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

 

We will value, but not required

– Experience in cancer research

– Specific training in project management

– Previous experience in research project management of large International consortiums

– Experience in developing training plans for PhD students, Post docs, etc

– It is essential to speak Spanish correctly. Speaking in Catalan will be valued.

 

Working conditions

  • Nº of positions: 1
  • Start date: Immediate incorporation
  • Contract duration: 12 months extendable contract
  • Estimated annual gross salary: salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay ranges
