Description
Project description
The selected researcher will work alongside Dr. Alberto Tejero and fellow colleagues and researchers from the Department of Organization Engineering, Business Administration and Statistics and the Technical School of Computer Engineering. The team primarily consists of experts in business organization and computer engineering. In particular, the researcher’s activities will be related to innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship, both from an educational and technological perspective, within projects mainly funded by Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe. One such project is REDINEST (01/11/2024 - 31/12/2026), where Dr. Alberto Tejero is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project on behalf of UPM: REDINEST project aims to complement current curricula by developing cross-disciplinary transformative competencies and an inclusive mindset, forming a network of impact labs across partner universities. Students will be empowered through responsible entrepreneurship, fostering inclusive green and digital transformation. Partner institutions will scale up challenge-based education by strengthening ties with companies and enhancing student collaboration at the European level. The impact labs will focus on training students to tackle real-world business challenges, developing micro-modules on related theoretical concepts for their peers in all connected labs. Faculty members from all partner institutions will jointly develop new methodologies to enhance entrepreneurial education, with students taking the lead in driving change. The project will culminate in an onsite impact camp for the student teams with the best online performance. The REDINEST project includes partners from five countries: Hungary, France, Spain, Serbia, and Portugal.
Brief description of the Centre/Research Group
The Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSIInf) at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is the oldest institution in Spain offering a degree in Computer Engineering. It shares its campus with the UPM Science and Technology Park, which includes the Integrated Home Automation Centre (CEDINT), the Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP), the Madrid Supercomputing and Visualization Centre (CeSViMa), and the User Support and Operations Centre (E-USOC), operating on behalf of the European Space Agency, as well as the Business Centre, which hosts a startup incubator. Since 2019, the Master’s Degree in Digital Innovation has been offered at ETSIInf in collaboration with EIT Digital (European Institute of Innovation & Technology). This programme aims to train professionals capable of innovating and bringing cutting-edge technological research and innovation to the market. It is currently available in four digital specialisations: https://www.fi.upm.es/?pagina=2759&idioma=english. The current director of the Master program is Dr. Alberto Tejero. ETSIInf boasts a faculty of highly renowned professors, some of whom are ranked in Stanford University's "Ranking of the World Scientists: World’s Top 2% Scientists", which identifies the most cited and influential researchers globally across all scientific fields. Many of its professors have received prestigious national and international awards and distinctions.
