Description

Are you a socio-economist or social scientist with a passion for interdisciplinary research?
Would you like to help shape the future of responsible science in the life sciences?
SB Science Management (SBSM) is seeking expressions of interest from talented postdoctoral researchers interested in applying for a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship (2025) in the field of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).
Please note: Applications from applicants with a background in natural or life sciences will not be considered. This programme is specifically aimed at researchers with a social science or socio-economic profile.

About the project
Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) aims to harmonise research and innovation with societal needs and values. However, the implementation of RRI principles - such as ethics, gender equality, open access, stakeholder involvement and inclusive governance - is often hampered by institutional and individual barriers.

Project proposals from interested candidates should focus on the following but not exclusive aspects:
- Investigating the current state of RRI implementation in research institutions across Europe.
- Develop practical strategies for embedding RRI in curricula, training courses and institutional practices.
- Design and conduct proof-of-concept studies to test new RRI implementation models.
- Improve knowledge transfer and stakeholder engagement across research projects and disciplines.
- Translate results into actionable training programmes for life scientists.

Your motivation for this research should be a strong interest in contributing directly to equipping life scientists with the tools they need to integrate RRI principles into their work.

Who we are looking for
We welcome candidates with:
- A PhD in social or human sciences, economics, and technology studies or related fields.
- Expertise in knowledge transfer, stakeholder engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Interest in applying social science methods to challenges in life science research and innovation ecosystems.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A proactive, creative mindset and a strong motivation to drive institutional and cultural change in the research system.
- Female researchers and applicants from underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
