Description
The candidate will join the NELA ("Nutrition in Early Life and Asthma") project, a birth cohort study established in Murcia in 2015.
One of the research lines of the project is to unravel whether early-life exposure to environmental pollutants (i.e. outdoor air pollution, metals and endocrine disruptors) contribute causally to the developmental origins of asthma.
Maternal and offspring biological samples are used to assess changes in offspring immune system, epigenome (changes in DNA methylation and miRNA profiles), and ultimately in gene expression as potential biological mechanisms influencing disease susceptibility.
Candidate should possess a strong background in epidemiology and/or statistical analysis, as well as excellent writing skills. A background in environmental science, environmental health, and/or analysis of data from omics platforms is helpful.
The candidate will analyse a wide variety of omics technologies in our studies including epigenome wide association studies (EWAS), miRNA and gene expression (RNA-seq).
There are opportunities to work on existing projects as well as to develop new projects on environmental and molecular epidemiology under the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD) paradigm.
Research Area: Life Sciences (LIF)
