We are investigating the role of cardiac scars as the drivers of arrhythmias and how they influence the outcome of clinically well established catheter based ablation therapy. In this context it is important to know the spatially oriented impedance values within the heart muscle and if possible within the scar tissue. Thereby electrical capacitance tomographic (ECT) methods which are well established in material sciences shall be used to obtain a sufficiently precise 3D mapping of the anisotropic impedance distribution on the surface of and if possible within objects like the heart muscle.
In this context all topics especially from the field of medical engineering, including anisotropic imaging o tissues and organs like the Heart, and bionics as well as biomimetics are highly welcome even though not limited to.
The ECT base anisotropic images of the cardiac muscle fibres will be investigated in detail within the currently prepared Horizon Pathfinder project for which we offer under the provision of that the project is funded to host a Postdoctoral Fellow / Principal Investigator.
