The INM – Leibniz Institute for New Materials in Saarbrücken, Germany, is an internationally leading center for materials research. We focus on interface materials, and their integration in innovative devices for technical and medical applications. INM is a scientific partner to national and international research institutions and a provider of research and development for companies throughout the world. The INM is an institute of the Leibniz Association and has about 250 employees.

The INM is expanding its competence and scientific activity to the interface between materials and life sciences, with the purpose of exploring innovative and sustainable ways to design and synthesize functional materials and devices. The field of Engineered Living Materials is of particular relevance for INM, both from a medical and technical perspective. We are seeking for a

(JUNIOR) GROUP LEADER

BIOENGINEERED/ LIVING/ SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

(5 years contract, salary level 14 TV-L, starting asap).

Skills/Qualifications

Your profile:

  • background in life sciences at the interface to materials science
  • > 2-4 years postdoctoral experience with documented output
  • a research vision complementary to the institute’s mission
  • ability to setup and lead an international team in a multidisciplinary research environment
  • proactive spirit for cooperation with other groups
  • interest for technology transfer from own fundamental research, and in cooperation with the industry
  • experience in grant writing.
