He kōrero mōu | About you 

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time Lecturer in the area of Software Engineering. Candidates should have a PhD degree in Software Engineering or a closely related area with one or more years of postdoctoral experience in academia and/or industry in relevant areas. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of publishing in top-tier scientific journals; experiences in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching and project supervision; sound knowledge in UML models for software analysis and design, software quality assurance, data engineering, machine learning/AI, and Python programming. Familiarity with adjacent topics of microcontroller programming, embedded digital systems, and FPGA will be a plus. Competency with software packages such as MATLAB, Azure DevOps, and Jira are highly desirable.

The start date will be in July/August 2025 or by negotiation. 

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering currently has academic programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As one of the five departments within the School, the department also provides service teaching in Software Engineering and Mechatronics. The School currently has over 3000 equivalent full-time students and about 150 permanent academic staff with approximately 200 PhD students.

This position involves conducting high quality research, teaching and developing academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research and postgraduate supervision in one or more of the above-mentioned areas through her/his specialist field and take a leading role in service teaching. The salary level offered, and related workload conditions will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
