Le projet EXPOVER s'attaque aux défis environnementaux auxquels est confrontée la mer Méditerranée, un écosystème particulièrement vulnérable soumis à des pressions anthropiques croissantes et aux impacts du changement climatique. Ce projet innovant vise à explorer l'éco-exposome marin de manière non ciblée, et à aborder les effets combinés du réchauffement climatique et des contaminants présents.

EXPOVER développera également un nouveau modèle marin spécifiquement adapté à l'évaluation des risques en Méditerranée, permettant de tester la toxicité des polluants spécifiques à cet environnement. L'originalité du projet réside dans sa capacité à aller au-delà des programmes de surveillance actuels, qui se limitent à un ensemble restreint de composés prioritaires, en négligeant de nombreux contaminants émergents. Par ailleurs, l'évaluation des risques repose aujourd'hui sur un nombre insuffisant de modèles biologiques marins, limitant la compréhension des impacts écologiques réels.

The EXPOVER project addresses the environmental challenges facing the Mediterranean Sea, a particularly vulnerable ecosystem subject to increasing anthropogenic pressures and the impacts of climate change. This innovative project aims to explore the marine eco-exposome in a non-targeted way, and to address the combined effects of global warming and the contaminants present.

EXPOVER will also develop a new marine model specifically adapted to risk assessment in the Mediterranean, making it possible to test the toxicity of pollutants specific to this environment. The originality of the project lies in its ability to go beyond current monitoring programmes, which are limited to a restricted set of priority compounds, overlooking many emerging contaminants. In addition, risk assessment is currently based on an insufficient number of marine biological models, which limits our understanding of the real ecological impacts.
