Offer Description
Within our research group, you will work on a unique set of bioinformatics projects focused on tick immunity and Lyme disease. Your work will include the analysis of spatial transcriptomics data from skin biopsies, immunophenotyping of PBMCs, and proteomic and single B-cell sequencing data.
You will collaborate with immunologists, molecular biologists, and clinical researchers at Amsterdam UMC as well as with (inter)national partners.
You will develop and implement bioinformatics analyses for:
- Spatial transcriptomics (10X Genomics Xenium in situ);;
- Flow cytometry data (Cytek Aurora);
- Proteomics data (HuProt arrays);
- Single B-cell sequencing (VDJ analysis);
- Transcriptomic validation (MACE & RNA-seq).
In addition to data analysis, there is room for initiative and methodological innovation.

Requirements
Required qualifications:
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field;
- Experience with RNA-seq or other transcriptomics platforms;
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R and/or Python.
Soft skills:
- You work accurately, independently, and as part of a team;
- You communicate clearly (English required);
- You have an affinity for immunology or infectious diseases.

- A 12-month contract, with the intention to extend for another 12 months.
- Salary scale 10: € 3.493 to € 5.504 gross based on full-time employment (depending on education and experience) and a year-end bonus of 8.3%. Calculate your net salary here. From July 1st, 2025, there will be a salary increase of 3%, up to the maximum amount of scale 11.
- Holiday hours: 190,4 per year for fulltime and a possibility to save additional hours.
- Pension accrual with BeFrank, a modern, comprehensible and fairly priced pension.
- For >7 km each way, 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs and, for private transport, €0.18 per km up to a maximum of 40 km each way.
- Do you prefer walking or cycling? Take advantage of our good bike scheme. Moreover, you will receive a reimbursement of €0.18 per km.
