The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a high qualified technician to work at the Glassblowing Workshop, in the Reaction Technologies Department, part of the scientific core facilities.                                          

ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: SustainableCatalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. The candidate will be part of the Glassblowing Workshop in the Reaction Technologies Department at ICIQ.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Organization and management of the workshop.
• Support to prepare the budget proposal and management of the workshop.
• Record of the work done.
• Invoicing of the works done.
• Purchases of glass components needed at the workshop.
• Design of glass parts.
• Manufacture and repair of glass parts.
• Design of solutions involving glass parts as part of experimental setups.

Requirements: 

• Five years of experience working as a glassblower.
• Three-year experience in scientific glassblower.
• Command of Catalan and/or Spanish and a good level of spoken English.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

Selection Process 

ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases: 

• Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs.
• Interview & practical exercise: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee. The interview will include a practical scientific glass blowing exercise at ICIQ.
• Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
