Offer Description
Job title: PILLAR-robots Purposeful Intrinsically-motivated Lifelong Learning Autonomous Robots
Research line / Scientific-technical services: Cognitive robotics
JOB DESCRIPTION: Research Technician for the development of implementations in real robots of a cognitive robot architecture within the framework of the HORIZON PILLAR-ROBOTS project for use in the use cases to be determined.
TASKS TO BE PERFORMED: Research tasks related to artificial cognitive systems and autonomous robotics and their implementation in real robots. This involves collaboration in the development of a cognitive architecture for robots, within the framework of open-ended lifelong learning. All software must be developed in Python and ROS2 so that it is compatible with modules developed by other teams participating in the project. In this sense, and following the philosophy of cognitive robotics, the robot must emulate the biological mechanisms of autonomous learning that occur in humans. Finally, experiments will be implemented with real robots, taking care of all necessary mechanical and electronic adaptations.
This requires prior training in artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning and computer vision, as well as extensive knowledge of mechanical systems design and mechatronics, in addition to robot programming in Python in ROS2 and in realistic simulation environments specific to the field of robotics. Training in high-performance computing systems for performing complex simulations will also be considered.
