Offer Description
How do individual pathogenic bacteria shape the host immune system, and how do host cells coordinate their defense mechanisms? During infection, Salmonella spreads throughout the host, establishing long-lasting replicative niches by manipulating immune responses.
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate how multiple Salmonella virulence factors act in concert to dampen the host immune response. The project will explore the diversity of immune reactions to the heterogeneous behavior of Salmonella across various host tissues.
A central focus will be to determine how the repertoire of virulence factors differs between localized and systemic infections, and how the immune system synchronizes responses across these sites—from localized inflammation to a broader systemic reaction.

Skills/Qualifications
- PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, or related fields
- Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research in host-pathogen interface
- Experience with flow cytometry and/or fluorescence microscopy
- Good spoken and written English
Ability to lead independent research projects and contribute to collaborative efforts within an international research team
Desirable:
- Experience with scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and unbiased screening methods
