The project aims to study quartz extracted from sediments in the Mariuá Archipelago region, in the middle Negro River, using the single-grain method. The characterization of single-grain OSL will be carried out through signal deconvolution using the general order model, including determining the number of components, lifetime values, and their photoionization cross-sections.

Once characterized, tests will be conducted to determine the best temperature parameters for use in the SAR protocol. A comparison will be made between sediment ages using single-grain OSL and other protocols, including VLOE and TL-ramp methods.

The position is open to both Brazilian and foreign candidates, who will receive a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship of R$12,000.00 per month, starting on 06/01/2025, along with a Technical Reserve of 10% of the annual scholarship amount to cover project-related expenses. The scholarship duration is 24 months, with the possibility of extension for up to another 24 months. The project is hosted by the Federal University of São Paulo's Institute of Marine Science (IMar-UNIFESP) in Santos, Brazil.
