We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 69,060.59 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.

Organisational Unit
At the Institute of Physics, a committed team of international scientists performs research in physics in its full range. The University of Graz and the Graz University of Technology are joining their physics institutes to form the new Graz Center of Physics. The institute covers the field of astrophysics in research and teaching, with internationally recognised research groups in solar and stellar astrophysics. The institute runs the Kanzelhöhe Observatory for Solar and Environmental Research as well as the Lustbühel Observatory Graz. We offer a friendly and vibrant working environment that leaves space for creativity and independent research. We promote an atmosphere of respectful interaction, family friendliness and diversity.

Requirements

- Excellent publication activity in the field of solar astrophysics, in particular on solar flares and associated processes
- Experience in the handling and analysis of large data sets, and usage of advanced (statistical) methods
- Experience in leading third-party projects is an advantage
- Very good IT skills
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge of the following languages: English; German is an advantage
- Enjoyment of scientific work and working with students
- Independent and goal-oriented working style

- Autonomous research and publication activities in the field of solar astrophysics, with focus on solar flares including solar-stellar connections
- Participation in existing research projects and development of new research projects in the field of solar astrophysics
- Act as deputy lead of the Solar Physics Research Group led by Prof. Astrid Veronig
- Possibility to work on a habilitation project
- Participation in the application process for third-party funded projects
- Independent teaching of courses and conducting of examinations
- Professional and organizational supervision of students of the institute
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures
- Participation in public relations work in Astrophysics
