Offer Description
The University of Applied Arts Vienna is looking for a Senior Lecturer / Conservation Scientist (m/f/d, 20 hours per week, initially limited to one year) for the Institute of Conservation to start as soon as possible.
Employment requirements:
- PhD in a natural science subject, preferably in physics, or in conservation sciences
- Didactic skills, teaching experience desirable
- Experience with various examination methods (e.g., Raman spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, XRF, light microscopy and SEM-EDX)
- Knowledge of historical, modern and contemporary materials in the fine and applied arts
- professional expertise, proven by scientific publications in international, peer-reviewed journals, scientific lectures and/or scientific project experience/management
- excellent written and spoken English, knowledge of German desirable
- Organisational skills, very good teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and enthusiasm
- Willingness to travel and work on international projects
Job profile:
- Materials science teaching and research activities
- Carrying out scientific investigations on art and cultural artefacts
- Material and scientific support for students, co-supervision in the context of semester, preliminary and diploma theses (diploma programme in Conservation and Restoration and Cultural Heritage Conservation Management)
- Independent organisation of courses and holding of examinations
- Participation in international training, research and restoration projects
- Conception, planning and collaboration in third-party funded projects
- Efficient cooperation in organisational and administrative tasks
The minimum monthly salary for this position is currently € 2,466.45 gross (14x per year, based on 20 hours per week) and can be increased accordingly by taking into account job-specific previous experience in accordance with the collective agreement of the universities (B1, salary scheme for academic/artistic university staff).
