Post-doctoral position for candidates of any nationality to work at the São Paulo State University's Botucatu Medical School (FMB-UNESP) in Brazil on an ongoing research project aiming at:

a) Development of pipelines and computational tools for the analysis of highly polymorphic genes related to the immune system, including the human Major Histocompatibility Complex – MHC region (HLA genes and others) and the Leukocyte Receptors Complex – LRC (including KIR genes), from whole genome sequencing data (Illumina, Nanopore and PacBio), exome sequencing (Illumina) and mRNA/cDNA sequencing (Illumina and Nanopore);

b) Characterization of genetic diversity in the MHC and LRC in samples from different countries;

c) Characterization of the transcriptional profile of human MHC and LRC genes in samples from different tissues.

The GeMBio group has extensive experience in developing computational tools for analyzing these genes (see https://github.com/erickcastelli/hla-mapper and https://github.com/erickcastelli/kir-mapper).

The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
