The primary tasks of the job holder will include:
- Design of numerical models, modelling and simulation of the spectroscopic properties of specific functional materials to support the analysis of their molecular structure;
- Development of numerical models of functional materials for photonics applications (non-linear-optical materials) and simulation of optical properties (hyperpolarizability);
- Development of artificial intelligence methods for interpretation of synchrotron studies of materials for optoelectronics;
- Continuous support of the experimental methods used in NZ36 with numerical simulations;
- Modelling of catalytic processes and chemical reaction pathways in SAC and modelling of different types of interactions between molecules and atoms;
- Analysis of multidisciplinary data including metabolomics for materials applications in biological processes.
The post-holder will also be required to disseminate the results of his/her research in the form of publications in leading scientific journals and presentations at seminars and conferences including international ones. He/she will also be required to apply for external research funding.

Requirements

- doctor degree in physical sciences or related disciplines: technical physics, informatics,
- very good knowledge of DFT numerical simulations in Gaussian software, supported by scientific publications or books;
- Familiarity with the research topics of the Department of Molecular Engineering and Nanoelectronics,
- Familiarity with AI, Machine Learning and neural network tools for solving research problems;
- Experience in the synthesis of organophosphorus materials as evidenced by publications;
- Knowledge of spoken and written English.
Nice to have:
- knowledge of the Python programming language, R-cran;
- knowledge of other chemical computing packages;
- knowledge of the basics of quantum computer simulation;
- knowledge of spectroscopic methods Raman, IR, Xanes, NMR, MAS-NMR, UV-Vis, Fluorescence, MS, ICP-MS, SEM, TEM;
- knowledge of packages used for neural network calculations: TensorFlow, Qiskit, PyTorch;
- ability to create Jupyter-lab notebooks;
- working autonomously.

All applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee selects the candidates to be invited to interviews based on submitted documents.
- Interviews with candidates shall take place from June 9th, to June 11th, 2025. Candidates qualified for interviews shall be notified by e-mail about the exact date of the Interview by May 26th, 2025. During the interview the candidate shall be required to give a presentation, stored on a pen drive, lasting 10 minutes at maximum which shall presenting candidate’s most important achievement,
- The competition shall be concluded by June 27th, 2025.
- Each candidate shall be notified by e-mail about the results of the competition.
- The final decision on employing and salary shall be taken by IFJ PAN Director
A person employed at the position of Assistant Professor with a PhD degree will receive a monthly basic salary of PLN 7,000 gross, and with a postdoctoral degree of PLN 7,800 gross. The total amount of remuneration is influenced by additional components, such as: length of service and allowance for working under conditions of exposure to ionizing radiation (if applicable).
